Earthquakes
My daughter Anna lives in Wellington and they have had lots of earthquakes there lately. I am in Auckland at the moment but I am going to town to buy her a combination torch, radio with a handle to charge the battery. That's one of the reasons we need to learn about science!!

Room 2 is on the move again.
We are very excited to be moving back to our old classroom on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. It will not be so far for parents to walk and we'll be much closer to our Junior playground.

We planted some seeds.
We planted three silver beet seeds each. We put some seed raising mix in a pot made from recycled cardboard. When our seeds sprout and grow into small plants we can plant them in our garden at home. We will need to water them and make sure they have sun and light.

Whaea Jodene's last day.
Whaea Jodene was our student teacher. On her last day, we made Matariki Star biscuits. They had icing and sprinkles on them and they tasted nice.
We are celebrating the winter new year. Matariki are stars in the sky. That's why we did stars.
We also did exercise with her, we ran around the field, we went on the confidence course and we played soccer.
In the photo Whaea Jodene gave us fried bread with jam and cream. It was yum!

Science Fair- "fun day with the parents and grandparents"
We all had a wonderful educational day during the recent science fair day- we let a hot air balloon go high in the sky; made soda volcanoes; electrical currents using lemons; and made our own lemon syrup. We all enjoyed showing parents and grandparents these amazing experiments.
Check out our hot air balloon video!

"It's raining in Room 2 ."
We made rain in Room 2 today. We put some water in a bowl and heated it up just as the sun heats up the water in the lake. We put a plate with ice on it on top of the bowl to represent the very cold clouds. We waited for a few minutes and watched. Very soon the warm steam rose up and hit the cold cloud and condensed into rain drops of liquid water. We saw some drop back into the "lake" below.
